Debug Mode, a hidden feature only available on Celeste's PC version, unlocks various extra features intended for use during playtesting and game/mod development.

Enabling Procedure[]

Debug Mode can be enabled via the following procedure:

  1. Navigate to the Saves folder in the game directory. On Windows, this should be located at "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steamapps\Common\Celeste\Saves" by default
  2. Locate and open the text file titled "settings.celeste"
  3. Navigate to the end of the file, and locate the row featuring the text "LaunchInDebugMode"
  4. Change the value from the default "false" to "true"

Alternatively, Debug Mode can also be activated via the Everest mod, where Debug Mode can be toggled in the Mod Options menu.

Features[]

Newly available features in Debug Mode include:

  • Map
    • Pressing "Tab" will open a map displaying all rooms present in the chapter
    • This map allows the player to teleport
  • Free camera movement
    • WASD keys to move camera
    • Q and Z to scroll
    • Mouse to rotate
  • Extra Completed Savefile
    • Selecting the extra option titled "~~DEBUG~~" on the main menu will create an extra savefile
    • This extra savefile will have all chapters unlocked
  • Console
    • The "~" key activates an in-game console
